Floris has a new girlfriend! It is a small, charming Drenth lady who is 9 weeks old now. Her name is Loesje. No, the pack of Van Rubensdael did not get larger. With the coming of our Floris V (Floris is the 5th Drent in our pack), the pack is complete for now.
Loesje lives in the pack of granny Nienke. And the pack is “the best friend” of ours. So it is obvious that we are going the pay a visit to meet Loesje. Floris first acquaintance with a Drent who is younger than him.
On forehand we explained Floris to play gently with her because even though they are both puppies, he’s about 5 months older and over 20 kilos heavier. Whether the message has arrived at Floris has to be proved in practice. But he looked very momentous. You could see him think; there is something exciting going to happen.
What a sweet, social pup Floris is! Whether he did remember something of our conversation or not, he is handling the little lady Drenthe very gently. First he looked at her from a distance. After a while he sought cautious approach by sniffing her, then they made “nose-nose” made contact and lie with her. Very cute to see. Then all was good and Floris soon went to say hello to his other friends Rose and Indy.
Two packs together, with the arrival of Loesje, are now 10 Drenths in numbers. Males and females mixed. Ranging in age from 9 weeks to 10 years. Great to see how well it goes together. You cannot stop looking at it, there’s always something to see. I n my opinion the Television and computer can remain off. A pack of dogs and in this case Drenths is much more fun and educational.
Together with another friend, actually his best friend Bryn Floris went this week been on a trip in the fields and the woods. We can say that it were very exciting and educational trips! Twice they encountered a hare while playing. The hare ran for its life with Bryn and Floris on his heels. Both ran not like a “headless Drenth” after the hare. No, there was clearly a hunting philosophy. They really tried to contain the hare. Fortunately for the hares they were faster. Although I’m afraid there lives a hare with heart problems in the forest, because it was a close finish. We do not need to doubt whether we have hunting dogs. With some additional training are Floris and Bryn ready for battue.
