Floris en Geoff in de Hondenkamer
Floris best friend is in heat. I mentioned that already in last week’s blog. But just this week Bryn is most attractive to Geoff and Floris. So the ladies and gents are living separated. It is an ideal situation we do have a separate dog room. Otherwise a mixed pack would be tricky during the “heat days”.
During these days we have to think twice about which door to open and which dog is where. But hey, we have an experience for four years now concerning female dogs and with three of them the chance to forget to have routine is rather slim. At the first signs of ‘heat’ we simply switch to the emergency plan: “females in heat”

Geoff already knows what is expected of him and rests in his fate after small protests. For Floris however all is new. Where he was allowed to play with his girlfriend the first couple of days, now he has to accompany Geoff. And of course, this is much more boring as Geoff doesn’t want to play all the time. Floris makes it very clear that he totally disagrees to be separated from Bryn. The challenge for us is to ignore his grumpiness. That goes quite well until Floris starts some protest actions; He puts his teeth into the cushions of the dog room and his new toys also isn’t safe. Except that it storms outside now, it also snows with us.
Very occasionally Floris is allowed to play with Bryn. Of course only when we and Eva can keep an eye on them. It is great to see that when Eva thinks they play to rough or when their play gets a new turn she intervenes. That play turn I will explain: Little males grow bigger. Stated otherwise: Floris thinks he is really something already. And as Geoff is his role model you can guess what happens at such a moment.
When he will be invited for a date in the future Floris will act as a gentleman. It is already being taught. To keep this blog tidy and with integrity I won’t publish any pictures of this.

To get relaxed from all pack emotions, every day we go into the fields to reset Floris’ and Geoff’s nose. With only one female in heat this is manageable. How bad all hormones will rush when both Eva and Veerle are in heat we don’t tell Floris yet.
